An excellent opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled scientist to join the Darcy laboratory within the Cancer Immunology Research Division of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Our team is focused on targeting the immune system against cancer using a variety of different immunotherapeutic approaches.  In this project, the candidate(s) will develop an integrated approach to cancer treatment involving adoptively transferred gene-modified T cells (CAR T cells) and adjuvant therapy. The successful applicant will be required to work in collaboration with other members of the Cancer Immunology Program and the Research Division in general.


Suitable candidates will possess a relevant science degree and must have research experience in the field of Immunology. They must also have cell and molecular biology and skills. The successful candidate will be self-driven, possess a love of learning and have a friendly and enthusiastic disposition. Skills in tissue culture, flow cytometry, recombinant molecular biology and mouse experimentation are desirable.  This position will be supervised by Professor Phillip Darcy and Dr. Paul Beavis. Previous cancer immunology research experience and technical skills in the design and development of in vitro cell-based assay systems are desirable. Excellent organisational and time management capabilities, and writing and verbal communication skills are essential.


The position is initially for a fixed period of 12 months. Remuneration (1RA6 -1RA10) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in line with the Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Health Sector) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2016-2020
