We are looking for a Nurse Consultant - Radiotherapy to join our innovative and comprehensive Moorabbin Radiation Oncology service. The multidisciplinary team provides specialist assessment and treatment across a range of tumour streams

 

The role of the Nurse Consultant is new to the unit – the role will provide expert care in a range of nurse led services including:

  • Triage and assessment of all new referrals for the Moorabbin Campus
  • Coordination of the patients receiving concurrent treatment at Moorabbin Radiotherapy and Monash Chemotherapy Day Unit
  • Provide expert education to patient and family members including early recognition of potential side effects
  • Review patients in clinic in collaboration with medical team
  • Advanced clinical assessment, early recognition of toxicities and appropriate management
  • Provide telephone follow up for patients as required
  • Provide ongoing support and education to patient and family members
  • Provide supportive care needs screening and assessment as required
  • Provide education and clinical support regarding radiotherapy to staff
  • Attendance and participation at MDM;s

Selection Criteria Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience in oncology nursing at a senior level
Essential: Postgraduate Qualification in Oncology Nursing, Advanced Nursing or related field
Essential: Master’s degree in nursing or equivalent (or working towards)
Essential: Demonstrate ability to coordinate and plan the care of people with cancer across the continuum of care
Essential: A proven ability to work effectively in a multi disciplinary team
Essential: Demonstrated involvement in professional activities and organisations e.g. Australian College of Nursing, Cancer Nursing Society of Australia, Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand
Desirable: An understanding of and experience with developing evidence-based practice and practice change experience
