About Short Stay Ward

The Short Stay Ward is an eight bed ward providing medical and surgical oncology care in an acute care setting.  The aim of the unit is to provide rapid patient assessment and interventions to stabilise presenting symptoms or provide postoperative care prior to transfer to inpatient wards or discharge home. The unit has the capacity to provide continuous ECG monitoring with trained staff. This fast paced ward utilises nurses' critical thinking and acute care skills in a supported team environment.


Your role in our future


We are currently recruiting highly motivated registered nurses for permanent full time positions. This involves a rotating roster. The ideal applicant will preferably have experience in oncology nursing within an acute care setting, however this is not essential.


The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate:

  • Ability to effectively engage and work within the multidisciplinary team
  • Sound patient assessment skills with demonstrated critical thinking and initiative
  • Willingness to learn and commit to providing best evidenced based practice
  • Experience with ECG interpretation and monitoring
  • Ability to adapt to changing and dynamic ward environment
