Outstanding candidates are encouraged to apply for an exciting new position as Head of Histopathology in the Department of Pathology at the at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.


This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified pathologist to assume a leadership position in a growing department which focuses on high complexity cancer diagnostics. The primary role of the position will be to lead a team of eight anatomical Pathologists and a highly specialised histopathology laboratory and build upon the extensive research and clinical strengths to realise the Department’s vision.


We are seeking applicants with strong leadership skills that can help take this department to the next level with adoption of new technologies including digital pathology. Anatomical pathology is key to the success of many of the the clinical and research programs at Peter Mac, embedded into all clinical care, and the position will also afford opportunities to conduct and foster basic, translational and clinical research.


The Department of Pathology supports the patients’ needs not only within Peter Mac within a busy quaternary comprehensive cancer centre catering for all adult subspecialty Anatomical Pathology areas but also has a national and international footprint. Anatomical Pathology is fully integrated into other pathology disciplines with close relationships to molecular pathology and haematology within the single purpose-built laboratory.

Selection Criteria Essential: Medical degree registered or registerable in Victoria
Essential: RCPA or equivalent
