The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre at the Victoria Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.  The hospital from June 2016 is partnered with the Royal Melbourne Hospital at the Royal Women’s Hospitals in Melbourne. The new building is also shared with the University of Melbourne with additional research links to the many research Institute's in Parkville.


The position is for 12 months for people having obtained their FRACS or equivalent and involves working with the Urologic Surgeons in a high volume cancer hospital.  The position gives extensive exposure to all aspects of urological oncology, robotic surgery in particular.

Duties will include managing urology in-patients and out-patients with close liaison between the Department of Cancer Surgery and the Department of Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine.


There are extensive research opportunities within the Division of Cancer Surgery as well as research laboratories at our centre. The successful applicant will have an outstanding early career record as a clinician researcher. There is also the possibility for private assisting.


The position involves working with a dedicated multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists in a tertiary referral cancer centre. The successful applicant is involved in the diagnosis, work up, surgery and post-operative care of urology patients. It also involves the care of non-operative and palliative patients. The fellow is expected to be involved with managing the unit, outpatients, teaching, research and being involved in the on-call roster.

Salary:  $95,578.60 for 53 hour fortnight topped up with private assisting to a range between $A125,000 to $A146,000 per annum (remunerated  at other hospitals).
