Fixed term  0.6 EFT Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Nurse - until Oct 2019

 

An exciting opportunity exists to join the psychosocial team at Peter Mac. Psychosocial oncology at Peter Mac consists of a team of approximately 25 staff including psychiatry, CL nursing,  psychology, social work and music therapy all working in an integrated model. The service has a strong involvement in research and education, with great opportunities for clinical staff to work across all domains.

 

The PCLN works within the psychiatry team to triage, assess and manage oncology patients with mental health needs. The role includes providing education and support across the organization.

 

As the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Nurse your responsibilities will include:

  • To triage and prioritise referrals to the Psychosocial Oncology Program
  • To provide clinical nursing support as part of the Psychosocial Oncology Team
  • Co-ordination of psychiatric nursing interventions on the inpatient wards
  • Provision of education and training for nursing staffing the psychiatric management of patients
  • Be involved in clinical and quality projects

 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Division 1 and/or Psychiatric nursing endorsement
  • A current practicing certificate
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues within the general hospital (consultation-liaison ) setting
