The Oshlack Laboratory requires a post-doctoral researcher with experience in bioinformatics analysis and software development in a research environment. The candidate will work on a number of projects developing computational approaches to novel transcriptomics data and with collaborators within and outside of the institute.


The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a quantitative field and have extensive experience in bioinformatics research related to cancer genomics. A background in software development, research bioinformatics and transcriptomics will be advantageous. The person will be expected to have excellent organisational and time management skills, and a high level of interpersonal skills.


This position is an opportunity for the successful candidate to further develop an independent program of study in the computational biology field. The development of new high-throughput sequencing technologies requires the development of new analysis approaches which will be the focus of this position.

Selection Criteria Essential: Doctorate in a relevant quantitative scientific field
Essential: At least 4 years postdoctoral research experience
Essential: Experience in the analysis of cancer genomes
Essential: Experience in the analysis RNA structure
Essential: Proficient in programming in R, C and Python
Essential: Published experience in research that may include genomics analysis of cancer genomes and transcriptomic data.
Essential: A publication track record in well-regarded journals in the field of genomics and transcriptomics research, relative to opportunity.
Essential: Exhibits a high degree of professionalism and respect for others
Essential: Demonstrated ability to manage several research projects concurrently
Essential: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other research groups and perform cutting edge collaborative analysis
