Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced nurses to assume the role of Nurse Unit Manager [12 months, full time] in Peter Mac’s Ward 3A. This is an exciting opportunity for senior nurses seeking to further develop their leadership and managerial skills.

  • Full time role - Monday to Friday only - 80 hrs per fortnight with accrual of ADOs
Ward 3A has clinical focus on people who have been diagnosed with cancers involving their bone and soft tissues, lungs, gastrointestinal systems, skin, urological systems, gynaecological systems, their head & neck and brain.  Treatment modalities provided to patients on Ward 3A include: chemotherapy, external beam radiotherapy, nuclear medicine treatments and palliative care.



Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Provides expert clinical knowledge and direction to ensure that clinical standards, policies, and procedures promote a patient focussed model of care.
  • Provides timely performance feedback, coaching, and guidance when needed in accordance with the performance management policy
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with health professionals at both a clinical and executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change.
  • Supports the orientation of new staff members, contributes to and participates in staff recruitment and staff appraisals
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to quality improvement.
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude to the agreed role and responsibility of position.

Selection Criteria Essential: Are you registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is your nursing registration current?
Essential: •Post graduate qualifications in cancer nursing or equivalent
Essential: •Minimum three years’ experience in an associate leadership or management role.
Essential: •Demonstrated commitment to patient centred care and evidence-based practice in health care service delivery
Desirable: •Master’s degree in nursing or management equivalent.
