About the Psychosocial Oncology Programme


The dynamic Psychosocial Oncology Programme (POP) comprises four high functioning teams, including the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service, Psychology Service, Social Work and Music Therapy Team. POP contributes to the delivery of outstanding holistic care to the patients of Peter Mac, their families, and their carers.

 

About the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service


The C-L Psychiatry Team is a close-knit, collaborative unit tasked with optimising the psychiatric management and care of both inpatients and outpatients of Peter Mac. The team comprises and sessional C-L psychiatrists, two full-time psychiatric registrars and a full-time Psychiatric C-L Nurse.

 

Your role in our future.

 

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Psychiatrist with an interest in Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry to join the POP team. You will work alongside other sessional psychiatrists as a part of the Psychiatric C-L service and contribute to the provision of high quality patient treatment and care. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising psychiatric consultation and care provided to the inpatient cohort
  • Direct provision of outpatient psychiatric assessment and ongoing care, where appropriate
  • Overseeing psychiatric triage and intake

 

This is a fixed term Maternity leave cover for 12 months from February 2021 to February 2022. The position is for a Visiting Medical Officer, working four clinical sessions over two weekdays.

 

The key requirements of this role are:

  • Medical Qualifications registrable by AHPRA
  • Specialist Post-graduate qualifications in psychiatry
  • Appropriate clinical experience
  • Experience in medical education at undergraduate and post graduate level
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines
