Your role in our future.

 

The Department of Cancer Imaging provides a high-level service in cancer diagnosis, staging, therapeutic monitoring and research. We perform more than 9000 PET/CT examinations per annum. Our new home features four PET/CT, two multi-slice quantitative SPECT/CT, two CT, 3T MRI, ultrasound, digital mammography with tomosynthesis. We perform many non-FDG studies including F-18, Ga-68, Cu-64, I-124 and Zr-89 radiotracers for both clinical and research purposes including first in-human studies. There is an integrated large nuclear medicine therapy facility for both outpatient and inpatient care including paediatrics and performing over 400 radionuclide therapy treatments per year with Lu-177, Y-90 or I-131 for malignancies including neuroendocrine, prostate, thyroid and lymphoma.

 

This position is a fixed term appointment for up to 36 months, funded by a Movember Prostate Cancer Research Alliance (PCRA) and a US congressionally directed medical research program (CDMRP). You can read more about this project in this Peter Mac Release:

This position is designed to support a senior fellow or junior consultant in commencing an academic nuclear medicine career. As such, a prerequisite for this position is enrolment in a higher research degree (e.g. PhD or equivalent).

 

The successful candidate will participate in the clinical PET, diagnostic nuclear medicine and therapeutic nuclear oncology program. Attendance at a multi-disciplinary meeting will be expected.

 

Professional Skills and Experience


To be successfully appointed, you will be a senior fellow or junior consultant with an interest in pursuing commencing an academic career in nuclear medicine with an interest in nuclear oncology and gaining research experience in a large complex health organisation, as well as excellent clinical skills.  A medical degree, completion of nuclear medicine specialist training as accredited by JCT or the equivalent, registration with AHPRA and a current Medicare provider number are pre-requisites for appointment.
